By rail and by road

If you prefer another way of travelling other than flying, you have the opportunity to visit the country by train, by coach or even by car.


By train

The international railway system allows you the opportunity to travel to Hungary by train, the journey lasting about 22 hours. You may need to change at least twice, depending on which route you have taken. All international trains have dining and sleeping cars.

By coach

Travelling by bus from London to Budapest takes about 24 hours. The Eurolines Company, cooperating with Hungarian Volánbusz Ltd, has modern coaches with reclining seats, large picture windows, washroom facilities and comfortable legroom. All services are non-smoking. On long journeys refreshment breaks are made and the driver will sagely store your luggage. By car

Depending on the route by you would like to get to Hungary, Budapest is located about 1062 miles (1700 kilometres) from London. Whilst in the country you need to have your driving license, vehicle licence, green card and liability insurance with you.

Most of the recommended hotels in the three cities – Szekszárd, Sopron and Budapest – have their own parking facilities.
